Lewis Hamilton & Jenson Button behind the camera instead of in front…

This is a vodafone ad alright. Notice that the photographers are themselves newsmakers…most of the time in the front pages of sports magazines and newspaper pages but for today they’re behind the cameras – for a fashion shoot!

Lewis Hamilton & Jenson Button both F1 racing drivers for McLaren were used to being photographed but for this shoot they were the ones who chose the models’ wardrobes, selecting props and doing the actual shoot and directing those involved in the production. I say not bad…the outcome turned really great…I love the studio too!

I’ve been trying to figure out which camera Jenson was using but to no avail, I finished the video and still can’t seem to identify it. Could you?

Mark Sanders Tampa

For Mark Sanders, growing up in Tampa was anything but boring. Well, that was then and Tampa has grown and become even more exciting. When one thinks of Florida, they of course picture the gorgeous sugar sand beaches stretching for over 200 miles but what else does this unique city by the bay offer? Well, it has become home to world class attractions that might not have existed when Mark Sanders Tampa was a boy. It is the home of various sport teams and family fun activities.

Rubik’s cube

I was 7 when my dad gave me my first Rubik’s cube as a pasalubong. If I remember correctly, he came home from the Netherlands.  I was fascinated having seen the Magic cube for the first time and it came from Europe too! I considered it an expensive toy then so I rarely got to tinker with it, lol. Fast forward 23 years later and I gave my then 4.5-year-old son his first Rubik’s cube. He showed much interest with puzzles and mind games and I’m taking advantage of that. You might recall also my last entry for Toy Story is a sliding puzzle, that and this cube and a handful more are my gifts to him. It’s also to enhance his thinking ability.

Little boy was sleeping earlier so I wasn’t able to take a video of him doing the cube…well, he can only finish one face and half of 4 more now. For today, kuya is the willing participant for the video; he finished the orange face first.

Gnomeo and Juliet

Put in Ozzy Osbourne, Emily Blunt, James McAvoy, Maggie Smith, Michael Caine, Patrick Stewart, Dolly Parton, and Hulk Hogan in a Shakespeare classic adapted into a film and you’re in for a lovely movie experience! Oh wait, it’s just their voices along with Sir Elton John’s pieces…

On the same lines as Toy Story with characters moving and talking when humans aren’t around, Gnomeo and Juliet is sure to mesmerize kids and kids at heart alike. The story follows or has a lot of allusion to Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet but comically as a lovestory between garden gnomes from feuding families, the blue (Montague) and red (Capulet). ^_^

Juliet, voiced by Blunt (Devil wears Prada) and Gnomeo, voiced by McAvoy (Becoming Jane) are the counterparts of well, Juliet Capulet and Romeo Montague. Most of the characters are alluded from the famous play and did their part in the movie. All in all a good movie for animation junkies as myself but may not be as fun and emotional as 3D greats UP, Monsters Inc, Cars and finding Nemo. (Well, I know it’s not fair to compare a Touchstone Pictures production with Pixar but still…)

Gnomeo and Juliet is a good movie to watch with the family, the kids will get the idea of how the classic play goes. I have the book on my shelf and the kids would surely be curious about it later on. I like referencing to films when they are curious about how the story goes in the book. There’s Moses and the Prince of Egypt, Charlotte’s Web, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory plus Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator to the film of the same name as the first book that we have compared. The book may be too early for now but this movie will pique their interest for sure.

Gnomeo and Juliet is now out in Blu Ray and DVD.
